Tips & Tricks for Visiting Funtopia in Glenview

Families of multiple kids, rejoice! I found the absolute PERFECT place to spend the day that will keep all family members happy and will ensure a quick and easy bedtime for everyone: Funtopia Glenview! This unique indoor play spot is most definitely a place to put on your radar on days when the weather has turned and they kids are driving you insane. And I’ve got some tips for you to make the most out of your trip:

Book online. You can reserve your time on the climbing walls and other Funtopia attractions online to ease your worry about there being a huge line or the play space being at capacity. Just remember that they only allow you to book a time slot 24 hours ahead of time. Looking for next day fun? Give them a call, or send them a Facebook message (they seem to be more receptive that way compared to over the phone).

Look at pictures online with your child before booking anything so they have an idea of what to expect. My boys love to climb but are much more on the timid side, so booking time on different walls was a waste for us (thankfully Funtopia Glenview simply credited our account for the difference). Instead, my boys had an absolute BLAST on the jungle gym, which is filled with tons of slides, tubes, and other climbing obstacles for the toddler and preschooler sets.

Dress accordingly. Since shoes are not allowed on the soft play structures and closed toe shoes are required on the climbing walls and other challenges, be sure to pack accordingly (especially during summer), including comfortable clothing that will not hinder the climbing harnesses that are required. I always like to dress my kids in bright colors when we are at a play space just so it is easier to keep track of them as well.

Time your visit for either early morning or late afternoon. That way, you will be playing at a less congested time and will have a more relaxed experience. My boys and I love to visit after 3 pm…it’s the perfect thing to do during that awkward after school/before dinner time period when they try their best to drive me insane.

Lastly, since Funtopia Glenview is located at The Glen, one of my favorite places to explore with kids, make an entire day of excitement in Glenview. Check out the BookMarket, visit the water fountain, head to one of the yummy restaurants for lunch (Eggsperience is always so welcoming to kids and is conveniently located next door to the play space)…the options are endless!

It is a great way to spend a day when the weather isn’t cooperating–which is all too common in Chicagoland, unfortunately!
