Patriotic Grazing Platter

It really isn’t a holiday until I come up with a creative charcuterie board to commemorate it. And the best thing about this Patriotic Grazing Platter? It can be used for BOTH Memorial Day and Fourth of July. So get the biggest bang for your buck—as well as for your eyes and tastebuds—by making your own Patriotic Grazing Platter.

Similar to my Halloween and Christmas boards, my Patriotic Platter consists of a large dish or serving platter topped with sweet and savory snacks for grazing. I love it for entertaining—even though due to quarantine we will be the only ones enjoying it—and for when you are so incredibly sick and tired of cooking.

While cleaning out our pantry I came across our stockpile of cookie cutters and our star cookie cutters served as the inspiration for this board. I wasn’t sure how well putting Cherry Jabanero Pepper Jelly into a cookie cutter and getting it to stay in place would work but as the photos show, it was PERFECT for our Patriotic Grazing Platter (thank goodness for the pectin that thickened it up!).

But other than the star shaped cookie cutters, there wasn’t much else special that we added to the board other than simple, delicious grazing board ingredients that fell under RED, WHITE, and BLUE categories.

Need some inspiration for your Patriotic Grazing Platter?

  • Apples
  • Cherries
  • Raspberries
  • Grapes
  • Jam or Jelly
  • Red wine cheese
  • Dried cranberries
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Cured meats

  • Assorted crackers (especially the Valley Lahvosh star-shaped ones in the gourmet cheese section of your grocery store
  • Parmesean cheese
  • White cheddar
  • Goat cheese
  • Mozerella cheese
  • Popcorn
  • Nuts
  • Cheese twists
  • Breadsticks

  • Blueberries
  • Blue hard candies like M&Ms
  • Blueberry jam
  • Blackberries (Let’s just call them “dark blue”, ok?
  • Blue corn chips

As you can tell from the photos, my Patriotic Grazing Platter had a strong star-shaped theme, but if you can’t find star-shaped cookie cutters or crackers, get inspired by the American flag and create rows of stars and stripes.

Wondering what pairs well with this tasty platter? I highly recommend my Lavender Rose’ recipe or a staple in our house, the Twig ‘n Berry cocktail.

Here’s to hoping you have the most DELICIOUS holiday and thank you to the brave men and women (and their families) who work to protect our country. We honor, respect, and salute you.

Same! I love grazing boards and can eat them for an entire meal. Along with a glass of bubbly, of course!
