I’ve shared free Chicago Museum Days for Illinois residents before and the original mission of my blog was to create a massive list of free activities for local families, but my newest discovery is even bigger. Bigger than big, actually. I found an innovative, beautiful children’s museum in Chicagoland that is FREE. For everyone. Always. Here’s what you need to know about My Museum, the only free children’s museum in Chicagoland.

Part of Quest Academy in Palatine, My Museum is a creative outlet where children are able to engage with exhibits that inspire learning and creativity. Similar to other large and expensive kids’ museums, this free museum has a plethora of activities that stimulate all areas of a child’s growing mind.

All of the areas—from the book nook to the ocean-themed restaurant—are hands on and encourage creativity and imagination. There are play stations where kids can experience what it is like be a doctor, an explorer, a grocery store clerk, and SO MUCH more!

Since students at Quest Academy designed My Museum, you know it is going to be a HIT with your child. It is the only museum in Chicagoland that was designed by children for children, and will engage children from birth through either years old.

Hours are limited (My Museum is open to the public on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10-12 and to organizations and groups on Tuesdays and Thursdays as long as you make an online reservation) but you do not want to miss this suburban gem. Be sure to follow its Facebook page for updates about extended and holiday hours, too.
Donations are accepted and go directly towards maintaining the operations of My Museum but are not required.

Happy Playing!
