Volta by Cirque du Soleil

It can be hard finding a theatrical performance that is appropriate for the entire family. Some shows tackle more mature topics or are solely geared towards little ones, while others may be intimidating—or even worse—boring to kids. But you can put your worries aside when you take your family to see “Volta” by Cirque du Soleil.

I received complimentary admission to Cirque du Soleil. All opinions are my own.

The Inspiring Story

Cirque du Soleil describes Volta as “a captivating voyage of discovery that showcases never-before-seen under the Big Top acrobatics in a visually striking world.” Kids will especially love the high energy, street sports inspired action while parents will enjoy the storytelling and positive message.

Volta takes you on a journey of self discovery and showcases how one can reach his or her full potential when ignoring judgement and negativity from others. This coming of age story is perfect for the entire family as kids both young and old can observe the main character struggling through self doubt but then discovering the freedom that comes with self-acceptance.

The Amazing Acrobatics

Volta includes many of the stunningly beautiful acrobatics audiences have grown to expect from Cirque du Soleil but Volta really stands apart because of how it incorporates BMX and Street Sports within its acrobatics.

I was amazed not just by the unique trampoline synchronized trampoline jumping, but also when an actual BMX park was mounted on stage for riders to showcase daredevil inspired tricks. Any kid will be inspired to try their hand at aerial tricks and rooftop jumping after watching Volta, so be sure to remind them that their Volta—aka “jolt of energy”—should be a bit more grounded and always include a helmet and pads.

The shape diving is also sure to have fans on their seats, cheering on the performers as the stunts become more difficult, as well as the rope skipping, acrobatic ladders, and my personal favorite, the ballet performances. You can check out a sneak peek of Volta here.

I guarantee that your entire family will be thrilled by the energetic Volta performance under the Big Top at Soldier Field. Everything from the music to the costumes is pure perfection, and don’t forget to enjoy a glass or two of Champagne Nicolas Feuillate like I did before, during, or after the show.

Use code 15VOLTA for 15% off any performance now through July 6th. Get your tickets here.

Enjoy the show!
