The Best Pies in Chicagoland


The holidays are coming, the holidays are coming?  Are you prepared?  Me neither. And to be perfectly honest I am not looking forward to the onslaught of holiday pressure and stress to make Thanksgiving, Hannukah, and Christmas picture perfect for my family so this year I am taking a shortcut that will not only save me time and energy, but also make my taste buds oh so happy.  What is my sneaky secret?  I am ordering delicious desserts from some of the best bakeries in the area.  Read on to learn about four of the absolute BEST pies in Chicagoland.


Bang Bang Pie and Biscuits, Chicago

I am not really sure what their secret ingredient that makes everything that comes out of their ovens so amazingly delicious, but to be honest I don’t care.  All I want to do is devour everything they make, from savory to sweet options…even their coffee.

Central Continental Bakery, Mount Prospect

Everything that I have tasted from this European bakery has been stellar, from their cookies to cakes, muffins…and of course, their pies as well. You can visit their extensive pie menu here.

Hoosier Mama Pie Co., Chicago and Evanston

Both of the sunny locations of Hoosier Mama Pie Co. and truly pie heaven. Everything is made in house from the best local ingredients possible—obvious from just one bite. The Evanston location also serves pie flights after 6 p.m. so you can try out multiple flavors before ordering your holiday pie. The menu of savory and sweet pies changes daily, so be sure to check their website for details.

Flirty Cupcakes Dessert Garage, Chicago

Don’t be fooled by the name—Flirty Cupcakes is so much more than simply cupcakes! They also bake up the most delicious pies for the holidays and each flavor sounds more delicious than the other. Now that I’ve gotten you ravenous, so out and shop small at these delicious local eateries. I must say that this was my absolute favorite article to research since everything was so insanely delicious, and thanks to everyone who helped me devour pie after pie in the spirit of research!

    Mouthwatering over here! I have such a sweet spot for pie especially warm right out of the oven pie! Yum! Add a scoop of ice cream and it is heaven! I hope to make it to Chicago to have a taste of these delicious looking pies.

      The ice cream just makes it, right? I always like to have a strong cup of coffee along with my pie…don’t want to fall asleep being so overstuffed!

    All of these pies sound amazing! My husband’s favorite is Key Lime pie; he has to always try it when we travel places! I personally love anything that is sweet and chocolatey, great list of pies.

    I have lived in Chicago for 10 years in a couple days! How have I not been to any of this places?? Flirty Cupcakes Dessert Garage, Chicago sounds really good, so I will have to stop by soon and try them out. I am huge cupcake fan!

    Those pies look gangsta and that’s quite an impressive list. I could could eat those pies all day. After eating myself into a food coma I could probably pass out at the table and just sleep right there. I seriously think I have a pie problem.

    Those pies look spectacular! I bet I could sit there all day and eat those pies. I would stuff my face until I passed into a food coma and just sleep right there at the table. They probably wouldn’t like that much would they? I think I have a problem with pies.

    Did somebody say pie? Oh Amanda, what are you doing to me?! This mouth watering article should be banned for people with a bad sweet tooth like mine. I could definitely see myself sitting in that European bakery and tasting some goodies. I have a friend in Chicago, I will let her know about these awesome places.
