Are you sick of winter? Me too. But just because Mother Nature isn’t following along with my “think Spring” vibes, it doesn’t mean that I can’t indulge in some Spring Fever. Here are some of our favorite Spring Fever crafts to get us to forget about snow and dream about flowers.
Materials: Cheerios, Pipe Cleaners
Ready for the easiest craft EVER? Then let me introduce you to the beauty of bird feeders. This craft is one of my boys’ favorites because they can snack on some Cheerios while creating the bird feeders and I love it because it helps them with their fine motor skills.
Basically, all you have to do is string some Cheerios onto a pipe cleaner (be sure to tie a knot at one end of the pipe cleaner.) Then bend the cereal covered pipe cleaner into any shape that you want, hang on the tree, and watch the birds enjoy their treats!
Materials: Stick, string, beads/feathers/etc, scissors
I keep seeing all different types of string art in designer magazines and now I know why: it’s therapeutic! So what my boys and I like to do is go on a walk around the neighborhood to find the perfect stick (long but not too long, somewhat straight, etc.).
Then cut about 15-20 string of the same length and tie them around the stick. Attach any type of decoration you would like to the string (feathers, beads, etc.) and add some colorful flair to your home.
Materials: Paper, glue, beans or seeds
This is one of our absolute FAVORITE crafts because it keeps the boys busy and it ends up with an absolutely adorable craft. My boys pick a color of construction paper, request for me to draw whatever they want using glue, and then they attach beans or seeds to the glue to create an outline of a certain image or thing.
Since my boys are ocean lovers, they are constantly asking me to draw humpback whales, dolphins, and the like. I indulge them but have also started giving my four year old control of the glue so he is drawing with the glue and then covering it with his favorite beans and seeds.
Materials: Glass jar or vase, rocks, sand, soil, water, plants, decorative bugs
There is nothing better than having some greenery to bring some light and life into the house. And the easiest way to do that? To build your own terrarium. It is so incredibly easy that anyone can do it.
Put down a layer of rocks, topped with a thin layer of sand. Add soil and implant your plant, topping with additional soil if necessary. Add decorative bugs and a healthy dose of water.
