Play Cool in Chicagoland

We are officially experiencing the “dog days” of summer.  So what is a family to do?  Visit some of the amazingly fun places to play in Chicagoland, of course!  Here are my top picks of indoor play spaces to “Play Cool in Chicagoland” the rest of the summer:

In the City

Adler Planetarium

Bubbles Academy

Chicago History Museum

Easel Art Studio

Foss Swim School

Kids’ Island

Lil’ Kickers

Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum

Purple Monkey

Sod Room

In the Burbs

Adventure Playland

Ball Factory

Big Blue Swim School

Kohl Children’s Museum

Legoland Chicago

Lil’ Kickers

Little Beans Evanston

Monkey Island

Petland Adventure Aquarium

The TreeHouse

A few tips, no matter where you decide to

“play cool” this summer:

*Pack socks because most places have a “socks only” policy

*Arrive early, since many places fill up fast especially on hot and rainy days

*Stay hydrated.  Even though you are enjoying some much needed air conditioning, your body is still working hard.  Maybe even add some herb infused ice cubes to your water.

*Try something new.  Challenge yourself and your little one to try a new swim stroke, play a new soccer activity, or try to bowl without the ramp.  Learning is fun!

But if you are feeling brave enough to take on the heat, get one last splash this summer at these hot (literally) spots:  Chicagoland splash pads, Chicagoland beaches, and Chicagoland Waterparks.

Stay Cool!
