Park Whiz

As much as I love going on adventures across Chicagoland with my kids, there is one part I hate:  Parking.  Not only is it difficult for me to parallel park with two crazy kids screaming in the back seat, but it is always a chore to find a spot close enough to where we are going that isn’t crazy expensive.  Thank goodness for Park Whiz , a new online service to help busy Chicagoans like me spend less time worry about parking and more time focused on fun.

How to Use Park Whiz

So what is Park Whiz exactly?  A way to find, book, and pay for a guaranteed parking spot instantly using either your computer or smart phone.  Their interactive maps and organized categories make it a cinch to find the best parking spot available, and with worry free cancellation (anytime up to the start time) Park Whiz is easy to navigate and use, no matter how many little kids are demanding your attention.

To find a great space, I recommend searching by event or venue.  For example, you can search for parking spots near tourist mecca Buckingham Fountain or local favorite Lincoln Park Zoo.  After searching for a venue, you can narrow down your parking spot options a few different ways:

 Parking time frame

Sorting options

                                Best rating and shortest distance

                                Shortest distance

                                Lowest price

 Amenities

                                Mobile passes accepted

                                Handicap accessible

                                Valet services

                                Indoor/covered space

                                Guaranteed easy in/out

                                Attendant present

                                Restrooms

                                Free shuttle

                                RVs allowed

                                Reentry allowed

                                Tailgating options

Once you have selected your preferred spot, follow the simple step by step instructions to secure your space.  Upon arrival to your reserved spot, scan your Park Whiz pass QR code from digital or printed parking pass on the flashing red light scanner.  Repeat the same process on your way out so garage gates will open.

The App

You can download the ParkWhiz App for free  and also explore their Simple Price Parking program with rates of $5 flat per hour or a $15 all day spot.

Wow, what an awesome service. We totally need something like this in Boston because parking is TOUGH!

That really is a handy thing. I’d love to have something like that in Chicago where parking is so hard to find.

I need this app to find parking spaces in downtown Charlotte! Parking is horrible and I hate, hate, hate to parallel park!

This sounds like a really good app to have on hand. Parallel parking is one of the hardest things to do, and anything to help make it easier is always welcomed.

It is a godsend, especially since I drive often instead of public transportation, which can be tricky with two active little boys.

Oh wow I love how the navigation is easy to use. This helps to solve the problem of finding parking spots, especially for persons with disabilities and senior citizens.

My 92 year old Nana refuses to leave the house because she stresses about parking…hopefully this will help ease her mind!

Park Whiz sounds awesome! I’ve never heard of this before but it sounds like an awesome thing to use, especially hen parking is at such a premium.

Wow! What a neat app! This would be so handy when visiting Chicago or Boston. Those to me have been the toughest cities to park in! This app looks pretty decent to navigate too!

I live in the country and have to drive about 30 minutes to the city. I hate finding parking there! I also suck at parallel parking!

What??!! That is such a genius idea! Not only is this a timesaver but it’s a stress-reliever too. Trying to find a parking space can be so frustrating sometimes!

This would be great for me because when I go somewhere I am not used to it would be nice to know I had a spot to park. I’m not good at finding parking places.

Can you believe they make new drivers parallel park during their test? I think I would have failed if I had to do that!

Omg this would be the best thing ever when I’m visiting NYS! Finding parking can be the biggest pain ever!
