As you may have noticed, I have taken a bit of a blogging break to refresh and recharge after one year of h a r d work. Yes, that’s right, my blog has been around for one entire year. I have met so many wonderful friends on this blogging adventure, and have been so thrilled to work with so many fantastic local businesses that cater to modern and on the go families like mine. That’s why I was so excited when Lil’ Kickers Chicago reached out to throw a party for my blog readers to celebrate my blog’s anniversary!
We are a soccer loving family and have been attending Lil’ Kickers for almost two years now and we are totally and utterly impressed with how they have handled a multitude of situations—from my nervous son not wanting to be in a class on his own to my youngest wanting to touch the ball with his hands more than his feet—so I’m so glad to have experienced what a birthday party looks like at Lil’ Kickers.
Based on my experience throwing a party at the Bradley Place location, here is what to expect:
Since I was inviting blog readers who I had never met before, I was a bit nervous about securing a head count and other details. For example, I didn’t know what type of accommodations needed to be made, I was afraid that people would forget to fill out the online waiver before the party, I wasn’t sure what kind of food to serve…as my husband would say, I was a “hot mess.” However, there was no need to worry. All of my questions were answered and addressed quickly and promptly via e-mail so much of the prep work was a breeze (which is a rarity compared to other kids’ parties I have hosted).
About a week before the party was scheduled to take place, I received an email with a detailed timeline of what to expect on the day of the party. That way there were no surprises and I could ask any questions about timing or logistics well in advance, which helped reduce any party related stress. That way there were no surprises and I could focus on having fun.
Once my boys and I showed up at Lil’ Kickers for the party, the staff was so incredibly helpful that I really didn’t need to lift a finger. Seriously. They spread out tablecloths, decorated with balloons, put drinks in the coolers, arranged goody bags and food…it was amazing. You are allowed fifteen minutes to set up before your party begins, but everything was set up beautifully way before then. And the clean up was the same way. The staff even helped my husband load up the car since I was busy with our over tired boys who had just way too much fun at the party.
At our party we had twenty children ages five and under of varying abilities. But the coaches had no problem keeping everyone engaged in both structured and free play time. Parents were also invited to play and kick the ball around, which made my soccer loving husband VERY happy. You can tell that the coaches are passionate not just about soccer, but also about teaching and interacting with kids which is not always the case at other kids’ programs.
Variety of Options
Lil’ Kickers Chicago is currently revamping their birthday party packages, but there are some different and fun packages to choose from. Next time we would love to utilize the inflatables since it is another fun way to enjoy some soccer themed play. And be sure to chat with them about different times for your party so that you can do what works best for your family (and I’m not going to lie—what works best around nap time).
I want to extend a thank you to Lil’ Kickers Chicago for providing the party free of charge in exchange for my honest review of their party program. Many of my guests had not had experience with Lil’ Kickers before and they all raved about how it was a great party experience (especially in terms of the time spent on certain activities and the overall time spent at the party—if the party was any longer there would have definitely been some melt downs from tired little athletes). It was so wonderful getting to meet some of my readers and I can’t wait to see what the next year holds in store for my blog.
Lastly, I want to thank Tiffany from Flirty Cupcakes for the fantastic cupcakes. It was so neat seeing my logo on such adorable desserts—and delicious, too!
I hope you all enjoy some of the surface changes I made during my blogging break (doesn’t every one year old need a face lift?!?) and hope you like the shift I am implementing with a focus writing more pieces that speak to moms in Chicagoland. I mean, shouldn’t we get a little attention too?
