Looking for an affordable place to take your kids to burn off some energy? Look no further than the newly renovated PlayPlex at the RexPlex. The spacious and sunny room has a wide assortment of toys for your child to play with, climb on, and explore for the incredibly low price of $2 per child.
Although the Park District states that the exhibit is for kids aged 2-4, we found it to be more appropriate for younger children between the ages of 1 and 3. My boys had a blast simply running around (they would be amused in an empty school hallway, thanks to their crazy imaginations) and had fun crawling through the tunnels, playing “house,” and building towers with the wide variety of bricks provided.
I’m not too sure how engaged a four year old would be in the space with anything other than the climbing wall that is featured on one entire wall of the room, but I’m glad that there is another space for kids to let out some energy during this frigid winter season that is parent supervised so there is an emphasis on fun instead of stern rule following that is typical at many park districts.
The hours for the PlayPlex are limited due to Preschool use, so be sure to mark your calendars correctly!
Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday 9:30-11:30 and 6:30-7:30
