Mother’s Day, Quarantine Style

After being home-bound since mid-March, my heart sunk when I realized that I wouldn’t be enjoying a Mother’s Day with my mom and sister as out tradition goes. But instead of throwing a pity party (you just know that EVERYTHING will open up by Father’s Day, right?!?!) I’m still embracing MY DAY (preferably filled with endless cuddles and mimosas) even if we are celebrating alone at home. Here are my tips for enjoying an EPIC Mother’s Day, Quarantine Style.

Take the Day Off

Let the laundry pile up, tell your partner to do the dishes (Even if he/she loads the dishwasher wrong) and RELAX. I know it’s hard because it’s so incredibly foreign to take time for yourself, but trust me, YOU ARE WORTH IT. Will the house be a mess to deal with on Monday morning? Probably. But push that out of your mind and focus on treating yourself to zero responsibilities.

Think Outside Brunch

While brunch and Mother’s Day go hand in hand, that doesn’t mean that you can’t have a delicious Mother’s Day, Quarantine Style. Charcuterie boards are all the rage right now and you can even order a personalized board of varying sizes and items delivered to your door thanks to Board to Door. I’m even offering a giveaway for a “Gather and Graze Board and Box” just in time for Mother’s Day over on Instagram. Be sure to enter before it’s too late!

Play Your Own Game

Quarantine life is all about puzzles and board games, but for Mother’s Day have your family kick it up a notch by playing games ALL ABOUT MOM. I love this digital download full of fun games to showcase how well you really know the mom in your life and most likely surprise you with how cool she is, too!

Sit on a Throne

Have you seen the new egg chairs that are taking over home décor? Well, so many stores are settling unique ones at great prices so that you can actually have your own throne to put on your patio and enjoy all season long. Flower crowns optional but HIGHLY recommended. Don’t forget the box of chocolates, either! My favorite way to indulge my sweet tooth is with a box of Fannie May Chocolates. Whether you go with classic Pixies, Trinidads, or an assortment you can’t go wrong.

Indulge in Some Self Care

While it might be a bummer to have nowhere to go, it also means that you don’t have to race around from one mom’s house to another so you can spend your Mother’s Day painting your nails, relaxing in the bath, doing a face mask, or anything else that helps you feel pampered. For inspiration, check out these tried-and-true recommendations for having a spa day at home.

Have a “Mom Tail”

Whether you prefer a “mom-osa” or a “mama-tini,” your glass should NEVER be empty on Mother’s Day. This year I asked my hubby to create a special drink just for me using Empress 1903 Indigo Gin and here is the beautiful and delicious cocktail he came up with:

2 ounces Empress 1908 Indigo Gin

1 ounce lavender simple syrup

1 ounce fresh lemon juice

Shake with ice and strain into a champagne flute.

Top with champagne and garnish with lemon rind and sprig of thyme.

Here’s to hoping that you have an absolutely AMAZING Mother’s Day, Quarantine Style. And if not, it’s totally acceptable to demand a REDO once quarantine is over. Just use my Mother’s Day tips and tricks to make it run a bit smoother!

Happy Mother’s Day!

I am most definitely taking the day off! Hubby will be in charge of all household chores and we will be indulging in a delicious brunch that day (all made at home, of course!).

This year will be different but I’m thankful to be able to spend it with my favorite little people. I definitely will be trying out the mom tail though! And I might even try out a flower crown because hey why not!
