Before we had kids, my husband and I loved to be out and about and always thought that having kids wouldn’t slow us down too much. Boy were we WRONG. Looking back, I guess it’s pretty funny that we were so naïve and didn’t realize how much a nine pound baby would rule our world. Fast forward six years and now we have a much better grasp on parenthood, thank goodness. What is the reason behind our magic? Having innovative and reliable products that allow us to focus on the fun of parenthood, such as the ones suggested by the informative and helpful website The Baby Cubby. The Baby Cubby is a company that empowers parents by encouraging them and introducing products that make parenting less complicated.

The Baby Cubby contacted me to review a product popular on their website, the EZPZ mat. EZPZ products are designed to make meal times less complicated and to help families return to their pre-baby restaurant ventures. I know that as a new parent going out to eat was something I was terrified about (what if the baby cried?) and thrilled for (I could sit and relax for once while other people waited on me? YES PLEASE!) all at the same time. Thanks to products like the Mini Mat, you can make your dining out experience a bit more relaxed. How? Read on!
The Mini Mat Review
EZPZ is simplifying parenthood by combining a placemat and plate through their colorful and unique products (Happy Mats, Happy Bowls, Mini Mats). The Mini Mat that I received for this review is a completely safe (BPA, Phthalate, PVC free and hypo-allergenic) and stylish way to serve your child a meal. The three compartments provide space for different entrees and side dishes, keeping them completely separate (as most kids prefer). Since it is designed for infants, it was definitely too small for my growing four and six year olds and it is yet to be determined if the larger Happy Mat size would be appropriate for their age.
Although the mat is marketed as having a great suction quality, I guarantee that your little one will figure out how to get the mat to lose its suction rather quickly. We found the Mini Mat to stick well to all surfaces initially, but if you moved the mat around the edges it wouldn’t adhere to the table any longer. Since my kids are way past the food and plate throwing stage at four and six years old this was not a problem for us, but it was a challenge for my 18 month old nephew who also tested out the mat. It was cute to see his little mind work and he was excited when he was able to launch the mat all over the kitchen.
My favorite element of the Mini Mat is that I didn’t have to hand wash it after each meal. It is dishwasher safe and stacks easily with other mats so my cabinets weren’t overrun with kids’ products. The mat is also microwave safe, but always keep in mind to be very careful when heating/reheating food for your children without testing it first.
My Mini Mat Advice
When using the Mini Mat, I would only put a few pieces of food in each section until your child has learned not to throw plates (or in this case, the mat). I mean, who wants to clean an entire plate of food from off the floor?
I would also recommend the mat primarily for eating out since restaurants tend to serve kids’ meals off of hot, ceramic plates. I love that there is a storage case for the mat to contain the mess until you are able to return home and pop the Mini Mat into the dishwasher.
Lastly, since EZPZ products are so colorful and appealing, use it as a guide to get more creative with your little one’s food! You don’t have to be Pinterest perfect to make a sun out of a sandwich, believe me. They also have a guidebook full of cute ideas to inspire you to make meal time more fun.
I hope that my review of the EZPZ Mini Mat was helpful in your quest to make less mess and have more fun as a family! Don’t forget to check out all of the great advice and support the Baby Cubby has to offer parents and families.
