Local Father’s Day Gift Guide

My husband is the trickiest person in the world to buy a gift for, simply because he is one of those obnoxiously selfless people who never wants anything (I mean, what gives!?!) and I can never find anything that truly expresses my appreciation for everything he does for our family.  Luckily I have come across some great small businesses that are helping me come up with some unique and great quality gifts for the Super Dad in our family.

Oh, and before you start browsing my local gift guide, be sure to enter my #SuperDad contest before it is too late.  There is over $150 worth of gifts up for grabs!

Local Father’s Day Gift Guide

Glenview True Value is one of my tried and true places for not only getting whatever I need to make my house run smoothly, but they also have great tips and suggestions for a non-handy mom like myself.  Mike Lovitto, owner of the Glenview store, came up with these top picks (and as a busy Dad himself, I trust his stamp of approval):

The official Dads Working belt form Wink.  Tool belt comes with the Citrus Saw, Screw Driver Multi tool, Spackle Knife Strainer, Jigger, Hammer Bottle Opener and 3 shot glasses.  $49.99

The whiskey wedge from Corksicle.   If dad likes his whiskey and wants every sip ice cold, this is the gift for him.  $14.99

The 12 in one Multi tool for the dad who has everything and wants to be able to do anything! $13.99

The iGrill Mini or iGrill2 from iDevices will make all of Dad’s meals cooked perfectly (which means that Mom gets a night off!).  $41.99 and $104.99

Does Dad like Candles and Music?  Well the Candle Tunes from Gerson is the Answer.  It is a Bluetooth wireless speaker / LED candle and can be used indoors and outdoors and is perfect for entertaining. $49.99

A unique gift for Dad to toast with at the end of a busy day.   The solid stone beverage dispenser works with wine or liquor with many styles to choose from. $99.99

Does Dad need to take care of himself?  Then send him off to Oscar’s Hair Salon in Northbrook and be rest assured that a handsome man will be returned to you.  They have both hair and nail services available at their comfortable and stylish salon.

Treat Dad to some organic, local, and gourmet popcorn from &Popcorn.  And as a special bonus, enjoy a discount on the Sweet Southern BBQ Caramel Corn and Bourbon Bacon Caramel Corn.  Be sure to enter the code QUEENSCODE15 when checking out online. Ranging from $5.99 to $24.99

What pairs better with popcorn than beer?  Look at the offerings from local brewery Middle Brow Beer.  And even better?  They donate a portion of their proceeds to local charities. Cheers to Dads!

Even manly men can get a little chilly.  Help them keep warm with this toasty and stylish zip up sweatshirt from Rep Chi for $40.

Do you have a golfer on your hands?  Then send him and his clubs out to a great local course and driving range over at Sportsman’s Country Club.  Rates start at $15.

Dads appreciate fine craftsmanship, especially when it comes to natural goods like leather.  Ashland Leather constructs the best wallets in Chicago, starting at only $60.

Stumble and Relish has too many great items to choose from.  But if you had to twist my arm, I would pick the Chicago mug for your favorite coffee lover, as well as these bicycle tumblers to toast with all summer long.

Bike Pint Glasses: $10.50 each

Bike Rocks Glasses (shorter): $12 each

Chicago Flag Coffee Mug: $32 each

Do you know a Dad that loves to grill?  Foster the development of his skills by signing him up for a cooking class at The Chopping Block.  There are two convenient locations that cover a wide variety of topics, from knife skills to grilling techniques.

Being a Dad is stressful.  Help him unwind and relax with an innovative cocktail from Few Spirits Distillery.  Tours are available to enjoy tastings of their Whiskey and Gin offerings.

Hope this helps you narrow down some great gifts for the #SuperDad in your life.  Don’t forget to enter my #SuperDad contest and enjoy goodies from Big Blue Swim School, Oscar’s Hair Salon, Glenview True Value, &Popcorn, and Local Foods.

Happy Father’s Day!

You can never go wrong with any of the gifts on this list! Anything from the hardware store is always a winner, because if my husband’s hoarding habits are any indication of any of the other men on the planet, they can never have enough tools! Locally brewed liquor is a fun idea, also.

I think my husband would love the organic popcorn. He’s a hug snacker so this is right down his alley. I never thought about just shopping local for gifts but I reallylike this idea. Very unique.

If not for my husband, I wouldn’t have anyone to give them to either. Except maybe I might buy the popcorn for myself. 🙂
