Fall Fests Across Chicagoland

It’s the beginning of that magical time…the air is a bit cooler, leaves are changing colors, everyone is walking around with boots and pumpkin spice lattes…Fall is here!  In addition to apple picking and visiting a pumpkin patch,  what other way should you be celebrating the best time of year?  At some local fall fests, of course!  Here are some of the Fall Fests Across Chicagoland where you can celebrate the change in seasons.

Fall Festival, St. Cletus Parish in La Grange

September 8th through 11th

Rides, games, food, drinks, and more fall themed fun.

 

Cornfest Family Fun Day, Graue Mill in Oak Brook

September 11th

Celebrate corn and harvest time with a family picnic, games, fishing tournament, and corn husk crafts

 

Des Plaines Fall Fest, Lake Avenue in Des Plaines

September 18th through 20th

Live music, carnival, food, market, car show and tons of fall themed and family friendly fun.

 

OktoberFest Chicago, St. Alphonsus Church in Chicago

September 16th through 18th

Celebrate Fall and all things Bavarian!  Saturday and Sunday are jam packed with kid friendly activities.

 

Long Grove Apple Fest

September 23rd through 25th

Shopping, eating, kid zone….and anything and everything apples!

 

Art in the Barn, Good Shepherd Hospital

September 24th and 25th

Observe art work hung in old barns and farm house structures, devour food and drink from local businesses, enjoy children’s activities throughout the hospital grounds.

 

Lincoln Park Zoo Fall Fest

Weekends in October

Enjoy a wide variety of Fall themed fun and attractions located throughout the zoo grounds and at the Farm-in-the-Zoo.  Rides, treats, displays, learning activities and more!

 

Fabulous Fall Fest, Mount Prospect

October 1st

Climbing wall, petting zoo, inflatables, games, entertainment and more!

 

Lincoln Square Apple Fest, 4700 N. Lincoln Avenue (entire block)

October 1st and 2nd 

Enjoy anything and everything apple, including tasty treats like pies and cider.  Enjoy music and entertainment, as well as hands on fun for little ones.

 

Highwood Great Pumpkin Festival

October 3rd through October 9th

One of the highlights of the Fall season, the community comes together to carve pumpkins and put them on display together on massive walls to hopefully break the Guinness Book of World Records for the amount of most jack o lanterns on display together.  BYO pumpkin but also enjoy some great Halloween and Fall themed fun.

 

Scarecrow Fest, St. Charles

October 7th through October 9th

Vote on the best scarecrows on display, visit the petting zoo, and enjoy other family friendly activities at this fest that has been running for 25 years and counting.

 

Heritage Day at Fischer Farm, Bensenville

October 8th

Celebrate the Fall season at this loved farm, enjoying activities such as pony rides, pumpkin carving, and much more.

 

Green Halloween, Oak Park

October 15th

Celebrate Halloween by being “green.”  Take the green trail throughout the community to experience some healthy kids activities and earn some healthy treats, too!  There will also be a movie, games, and more!

 

Boo at the Zoo, Brookfield Zoo

October 22nd-23rd and 29th-30th

Celebrate Halloween by dressing up in your costume to participate in the costume parade, watch the animals eat their own pumpkin treats, and participate in other Fall themed fun throughout the zoo.

 

The Halloween Gathering, Maggie Daley Park and surrounding areas

October 22nd 

Join cultural icons such as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Field Museum, Art Institute and many more in this brand new cultural celebration of Halloween.  The festival is held in the afternoon, culminating with a nighttime parade.

 

Clark Street Spooktacular, Clark Street from Diversey to Armitage, Chicago

October 30th

Trick or treat at some local Lincoln Park businesses and enjoy their Halloween and Fall themed window displays.

    I love this time of the year. So much to do! Enjoy it because it doesn’t last long. We love going apple and pumpkin picking too!

    Fall is my absolute favorite time of the year, and festivals are a huge reason why. It looks like Chicago has a ton of activities to celebrate the most wonderful time of year 🙂

    This is a great list and I can’t wait to go to some of these Fall themed events with my whole family. I know my children will love the Boo at the Zoo event.

    Wow, there are so many that sound like a ton of fun! We have a grape festival this weekend and I can’t wait to go to that one – I could smell the grapes on my walk this morning.

    Great list of events! I love fall, and around Seattle there are a lot of festivals too. It’s hard to decide what to go to. There are only so many weekends in the fall 🙂
