Daytime Dates for Chicago Couples

Oh, date night. You look forward to it for weeks, but once it finally rolls around you are typically exhausted from the week and the couch is calling your name. Sound familiar to any other parent out there? Well, I’m here to encourage you to take back date night. How? By moving it up by an hour or two…or five. Yes, that’s right, daytime dates are the new cool thing. Not only are you more energized, but you will also feel like your babysitter is truly earning his or her money instead of simply sitting in peace and quiet while your kids sleep. There are so many fun and unique daytime dates for Chicago Couples that you will never settle for just a “dinner and movie” date again, guaranteed.

Daytime Date for Chicago Couples Idea #1–Relax Together

Parenting is one of, if not THE, most stressful jobs out there. So take time to relax and re-center yourself before you go home and step on even more Legos. Nature Yoga Sanctuary has two locations, one in Wicker Park and one in Oak Park, in order to help you get your OM on. Drop in classes are $17, and there are over 14 types of yoga classes offered so you will be able to find the perfect setting for your daytime date, whether it is a “Rise and Shine” class or a “Candlelight” yoga session. The Oak Park location recently opened an adjoining café so that you can enjoy a nutritious meal or soothing latte after your yoga practice.

Another relaxing option? The spa! There are so many great spas across Chicagoland that provide customized and innovative treatments. We love The Spa at Lincolnshire located at the Marriott Lincolnshire Resort since it is intimate, conveniently located and the price is right!

Daytime Date for Chicago Couples Idea #2–Create Something Together

I know, I know…you’ve already created a future together, but what about something more concrete? Then head over to VIP Paints and check out all of the unique classes they have to offer. Yes, you can find creative Chicago themed sip and paint classes like at many other artistic boutiques, but the class with the biggest draw at VIP Paints is the Soy Candle Making Class. That way you will have a memento of your time together every time you have a candle lit meal at home (after the kids go to bed, of course).

Daytime Date for Chicago Couples Idea #3–Get Your Sweat On

Many people think that barre classes cater to women, but the dynamic staff at Pure Barre Deerfield prove that simply isn’t true. The “Classic” class is 50 minutes long and is a complete full body workout that is low impact and isometric program that strengthens and then stretches your muscles. The other type of class offered, “Empower,” is a full body burn that is low impact and cardio centric. Whichever class you choose, you and your partner will definitely be sore the next day–but I promise it’s worth it!

Daytime Date for Chicago Couples Idea #4–Explore a New Neighborhood

Chicago is known as a city of neighborhoods, so why not set aside a few hours to wander around and explore a new neighborhood together? In the suburbs, we love heading to Northbrook and losing ourselves in the stacks at the Book Bin and heading to the Graeter’s afterwards for French pot ice cream. In our hometown of Arlington Heights, we spend hours sharing macaroons and talking over lattes at the beautiful Bakester Patisserie or Coco and Blu Cafe after strolling through the local shops. If in the city, we love exploring neighborhoods such as Andersonville by visiting the Swedish American Museum and stuffing ourselves with a delicious brunch from Big Jones.

Daytime Date for Chicago Couples Idea #5–Celebrate the Season

Whether outdoor patios are calling your name in the summer or you want to cuddle up during the winter, there are tons of fun seasonal daytime dates to have. My favorite? Spending the day on the slopes at Wilmot Mountain or sipping coffee in an igloo at Hometown Coffee and Juice.

Daytime Date for Chicago Couples Idea #6–Rev Your Engines

Just in case you missed my recent post about the Chicago Auto Show (go read it now!), it’s here…and one of the best daytime dates around. Why? Because you can get up close and personal with your dream car, see what innovations are being made in all types of vehicles, and of course, check out the concept cars of the future. Just be sure to wear comfy shoes since there is a TON of walking. If the Auto Show isn’t in town, have cocktails or coffee while racing slot cars at the fun and upbeat Fieldhouse Jones.

If you are looking for something a bit more ROMANTIC, here are my recommendations for How to Plan the Ultimate Date Night and top picks for romantic restaurants in Chicagoland.

Enjoy your time together!

The barre classes are definitely a great workout. And isn’t it so awesome that there were free trial classes available? Perfect cheap date! 😉

My husband and I enjoy going out to eat. There’s no way we could ever do Yoga or dance. We’d just start laughing hysterically. But eating? Yeah, we do that well!

Thankfully we have retired grandparents to rely on so we can take advantage of weekend daytime dates every once in a while!

Totally agree. And yes, dance lessons are so much fun…especially when you don’t have a stressful wedding to prepare for!
