Cozy Fall Decor

It may still be hot and toasty outside, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t make your home cozy and welcoming. I am someone who counts down the days until Fall and can’t take a trip to the grocery store without coming home with a pumpkin or two, so decorating for autumn is one of my absolute FAVORITE things to do. While I may not be crazy about it getting dark so early thanks to Daylight Savings Time, I am crazy about cozy fall decor. Check out these ways to take your hygge up a level.

Bring Nature In

If you ask me, Fall is when nature is at its best. There are so many different vibrant colors, so why not bring those same tones into your home?

I absolutely love seeing the red, yellow, and orange leaves throughout our neighborhood when we go on nature hikes, so I use those colors when integrating cozy fall decor throughout our home. The key is to go for the more muted colors so that your eyes aren’t taken over by bright splashes of color.

Instead of retina burning reds, I tend to either stick to blush pink like this chunky knit throw or rust accents like these throw pillows. Whether you add a shade of white or a shade of black, you can’t go wrong taking inspiration from nature.

In addition to colors, bring in natural elements such as branches, flowers, and gourds. Even better? When you place them in quirky and rustic vessels (hanging planters are great to keep your plants away from curious little ones!) so they give your home a more farmhouse and rustic Fall style.  With my husband’s bad allergies we stick to faux florals, and the World Market Plant Shop always has whatever we are looking for.

Add Texture

From the cool breezes to the crunch of leaves, there are a ton of textural elements present in the Fall. You can mimic that same style in your house by adding textural elements to your home. Weathered wood pieces like this letter board, soft leather, and chunky knit blankets simply scream Fall and encourage you to kick off your shoes and hide under the blanket with a mug of coffee in hand.

Since World Market has such an eclectic collection of goods, you can even find faux fur and hide décor to add to your home. The softer the better for those chilly Autumn nights, am I right? There are tons of neutral textured goods as well, so your room isn’t too overpowering.

You can even add some textured elements for the kiddos, such as these galvanized metal houses, which my boys love to use for imaginative play all Fall long.

Go Rustic

Thanks to Joanna Gaines, everyone knows what “Farmhouse Chic” is. And she has brought her absolutely gorgeous and utterly cozy fall decor to your local Target through Hearth and Hand with Magnolia. Look for galvanized metal buckets or wooden bowls to hold acorns or pumpkins and other antiqued items such as these pieces of art to give a cozy and rustic vibe to your home.

Mute the Lighting

One last thing to think about when creating cozy Fall decor is choosing the perfect lighting. As I learned about in the “The Little Book of Hygge,”     Candles that not only look beautiful but also smell beautiful are key, and adding a few twinkly lights might start getting you ready for the holiday season.

I couldn’t agree with you more on how to easily decorate your home for fall. Bringing nature in and embracing textures and more rustic elements is the easiest (and cheapest!) way to make your home cozy for the season. 🙂
