Have a chocolate lover in your life? Me too. Spoiler alert: it’s me. And lucky for me, I live in an area with so many different unique and handcrafted chocolates to indulge in. The next time you are looking for a fun date idea, either with or without kids, be sure to visit these spots that cater to chocoholics in Chicagoland.
Want to see chocolate being made and get a behind the scenes tour? Then take a drive out to the Long Grove Confectionary (don’t worry, it isn’t that far). While enjoying the sights and smells of the adorable shop, be sure to enjoy some chocolate strawberries and their “Myrtle.”
Rick Bayless and his team create the ultimate bean to cup Mexican “sipping chocolate” over at both Xoco locations. I love the spicy sweet flavor combination…and really, anything that comes from Chef Bayless. Obviously.
Looking for a great gift? Then head over to one of the many beautiful Vosges boutiques in the area. My personal favorite is their wide variety of bacon and chocolate creations as well as exotic truffle flavors.
Have a Nutella lover on your hands? Then check out the delectable Italian inspired Nutella treats at Eataly. Be sure to enjoy some hot chocolate at Lavazza Café while people watching or waiting for a table in the restaurant.
Margie’s Candies is THE place to indulge in hot fudge sundaes. I have fond childhood memories tackling a huge sundae as a family and it is just as fun to recreate this experience with my boys. Their boxed Tarapins are also out of this world and make a great gift.
Looking for a cute brunch spot? Then head over to Mindy’s Hot Chocolate. Enjoy a full restaurant menu, desserts, and drinks and don’t leave without picking up some unique hot cocoa mixes and handmade marshmallows.
Can’t decide which kind of chocolate is your favorite? Then visit Katherine Anne Confections where you will find a mix of EVERYTHING. If you are feeling really indecisive, let me help you out: you can’t go wrong with truffles, caramels, or any of the unique hot chocolate recipes.
Looking for the most elegant interaction with chocolate? Then be sure to visit the Chocolate Bar at the Peninsula Hotel. Enjoy chocolate martinis, truffles, and oh so much more on Friday and Saturday nights.
